How does the TaskRabbit and IKEA Category work?
This category will allow IKEA customers to book assemblies directly through TaskRabbit. Customers will be able to book their assembly on IKEA’s website, the TaskRabbit website, or directly from their mobile phone using the TaskRabbit app. TaskRabbit assembly is also offered to online customers through post-purchase emails sent by IKEA.

Why is the price of an official IKEA Assembly calculated differently from a standard furniture assembly/another category of task on TaskRabbit?
The standard TaskRabbit pricing is based on individual Taskers’ hourly rates. s part of our IKEA initiative, we utilize flat rate pricing based on the size and complexity of IKEA items.
How is my Tasker qualified to assemble my new IKEA furniture?
Your Tasker has successfully completed Furniture Assembly tasks on TaskRabbit and has done so with high-quality and positive feedback from their Clients. They have also shared their skills and experience on their Tasker profile, including assembling all types of IKEA furniture and securing items to a wall when instructed by IKEA.
All Taskers taking part in the IKEA program have undergone a criminal background check and background checks indicating a criminal history have been reviewed in accordance with law (note, different jurisdictions provide different amounts of information and laws differ as to what information can be considered).
How do I communicate with my Tasker?
Once you have booked your assembly task with TaskRabbit, whether online or in- store, your Tasker will receive an invitation to perform the task. This may not be immediate, but you will be notified via the task’s chat feature once the Tasker has agreed to perform the task. The Tasker can text to help answer any questions you may have about your booking. Twenty-four hours before the scheduled task time, we will reach out to confirm that your IKEA delivery has been received. Upon confirmation we will allocate the job to a Tasker. You must confirm that delivery has been received by indicating such in the chat thread. If you do not confirm, the task will not occur.
In order to chat with your Tasker to finalize any details, you can use the chat feature via your web dashboard or the TaskRabbit mobile application. This chat feature will be your primary way to communicate with your TaskerYou can also call your Tasker via the mobile app. It is expected that your Tasker chats to confirm the appointment time and uses their Tasker app to schedule the appointment within the requested time frame.
What if my IKEA Delivery does not arrive in time for the scheduled appointment?
If you have not received your IKEA delivery, we will happily reschedule your appointment for a later date. Please reach out to TaskRabbit Support at help.tr.co to reschedule your task. No cancellation fee will apply.
Why should I secure my items to the wall when provided for in the IKEA instructions?
For your own safety and for the safety of others in your home, it is important to assemble products in accordance with the manufacturer’s assembly instructions. To help prevent injury or death from furniture tipover, IKEA requires that furniture with included restraints must be secured to the wall, as provided for in the assembly instructions. Your Tasker will be equipped with an electric drill and has agreed to secure items to the wall.
Why am I being asked to agree to have my items assembled per IKEA instructions before I can complete my booking?
For the safety of consumers, as a condition of participating in the TaskRabbit IKEA category, Clients must agree that they will direct the Tasker to follow IKEA assembly instructions – including securing furniture to a wall when the instructions dictate.
What happens if I refuse to allow the Tasker to secure items to the wall if the IKEA instructions require that they be secured?
Prior to booking an IKEA assembly task you are required to indicate that you agree to the following language: “You agree to direct a Tasker to follow IKEA assembly instructions - including securing to a wall when the instructions so provide.”
If you later choose to not have your Tasker secure items to the wall where required by IKEA assembly instructions, please cancel the task prior to the Tasker arriving - no cancellation fee will apply.
What happens if I am not home when my task is completed?
You are responsible for overseeing and directing the work of your Tasker. Neither TaskRabbit nor IKEA monitor, direct or oversee the work of Taskers, who are independent contractors hired by Clients. If, however, you will not be home when your task is started or completed, please ensure your Tasker knows where the IKEA item should be secured if the IKEA assembly directions indicate it should be secured to a wall. If you fail to do so, your Tasker will attempt to find out that information from you via the chat thread in the Tasker App. Pursuant to our Terms of Service, if you are not present but there is another adult in your home, you authorize the Tasker to take direction (including instructing where to secure the furniture) from that person. If your Tasker is unable to ascertain that information from you or another adult in your home, they will secure the furniture to a wall using their best judgment and you expressly waive all claims arising or related to the item being secured to a wall without your direction.
Will my Tasker help me to recycle the IKEA packaging materials?
You can direct your Tasker to do so. We recommend chatting with the Tasker before the task to discuss the scope of your task including requesting that they recycle packaging materials.
What if I would like my Tasker to do other tasks after assembling my furniture?
If you would like your Tasker to help with other tasks, please book your Tasker again, using the appropriate category. Taskers are hired hourly at their own specified rate for all other tasks on the platform (such as Delivery, Cleaning and Minor Home Repairs). However, IKEA Furniture Assembly tasks are a flat rate. This flat rate only includes the assembly of your IKEA items.
If your Tasker is available for hire, please ask them for their unique URL where you can visit their profile and hire them directly for your new task. For more information on how to hire a Tasker outside of the IKEA Program, please see this Support Center article.
