We are committed to helping keep the TaskRabbit platform safe, and want you to know the ways in which we are doing so. If you are registering to become a Tasker, you will notice a series of steps throughout and following the registration process that help maintain the safety of the community, and these processes will be outlined below.
Verifying your identity
In the first step of the registration process, we will ask for some basic information such as your full name, home address, and date of birth. This information is used to verify your identity. Please be sure to use your full legal name on your TaskRabbit account. If the system has trouble verifying your identity, please see our Support Center article to learn about the next steps.
Conducting a background check
If you do not already have a valid credit card on file, you will be asked to enter your credit card information during the online registration. If your registration is successfully processed, you will be charged a $20 fee to cover the cost of your background check (this fee is not applicable for UK registrants).
Notwithstanding payment of the fee, TaskRabbit does not guarantee placement as a Tasker on the Service.
Toward the end of your online registration, US registrants will be prompted to enter their Social Security Number (SSN). We will use your full legal name, date of birth, and social security number to process a background check. We take protecting your personal information very seriously, and to do so we use the latest encryption technologies available. Your information will never be shared with third parties and is solely for internal use. Your SSN is deleted from the system as soon as the background check has been conducted.
Setting up your direct deposit information
You will also see that the registration process requires you to enter your bank account information. Your banking and routing numbers are necessary to set up your method of payment on the platform. Taskers can only be paid through direct deposit to an active US checking account. Savings accounts, prepaid debit cards, and reloadable bank cards will not work, even if they accept direct deposits. We do not use your private information for any other reasons, and it is securely stored using SSL encryption. My registration was successfully processed. How will I be kept safe as a Tasker?
We value trust on the TaskRabbit platform, and we take our Users’ safety extremely seriously. Before you begin tasking, you will attend an in-person orientation conducted by TaskRabbit HQ. These orientations are an opportunity to interact with the app and the website, talk with our team and ask any questions you may have, and boost your chances of success on the platform. Once you begin tasking, you will have access to our Customer Support Team by email, live chat for on-task issues, and an emergency phone line. Additionally, we have an experienced Trust & Safety, Policies, and Resolutions Teams in place to assist with escalated issues.
My registration was not able to be processed. Can I re-register?
We process prospective Taskers to begin tasking by reviewing the criteria submitted during the registration process. If your registration is unable to be successfully processed, you will not be able to create multiple user accounts or re-register, in accordance with our Terms of Service.
