What are available tasks?
Available Tasks are tasks that are available to the community at large, rather than to one specific Tasker.
Because multiple Taskers are likely viewing the same Available Task, you will not be able to chat with the Client. We turn off the chat feature on Available Tasks to protect the Client from being inundated with messages from potentially dozens of Taskers. However, if you choose to assign yourself to the task, you will then be able to chat with the Client.
Make sure you review all the information in the description! Take note of the requested time, vehicle requirements, supplies and tools needed and any other specifications the Client has made in order to decide if you can commit to the task. For example, "Tasker must provide a power drill" would be crucial information.
What are NOW tasks?
Now more than ever, Clients and Taskers want to connect about work that needs to happen immediately. We’ve listened, and are making it easier to request and receive tasks “on demand.”
You are able to identify tasks for immediate (“on demand”) completion in your Available Tasks drawer. These tasks include the word “NOW” as the first word in the task title (for example, “NOW: Cleaning”).
Here’s what you need to know about “NOW” tasks:
- 90 minutes or less: Clients expect “NOW” tasks to be completed “on demand.” When you see the “NOW” tag, this means the Client has requested a start time as soon as possible at the specific time listed in the task. If you cannot be at the task location and ready to start the task within the Client’s specified time, then skip that task and accept one that better suits your schedule.
- Chat in less than a minute: Chat with your client in the first minute after you accept a “NOW” task to confirm Scope, Expectations, and Time!
- Don’t reschedule: Clients expect “NOW” tasks to be started... Now. If you’re uncertain about when you can begin, better to skip a “NOW” task than to attempt to reschedule.
When to accept an available task, and how to cancel
Acceptance of an Available Task is a commitment to complete it. Once you pick up an Available Task, it cannot be forfeited or released to other Taskers; it is permanently yours. Cancellation or failure to complete an Available Task that you have assigned yourself may negatively impact your performance metrics. For this reason, we recommend only assigning yourself to an Available Task if you are fully prepared to complete the task exactly as it is posted, without any further questions about the task details.
If the task details do not include enough information to provide confidence in performing it, Clients prefer that you do not accept it. If you, nonetheless, decide to pick it up but find out that you can not complete it, you will need to contact Customer Support. This can lead to a poor client experience and reduce your chances of that Client directly hiring you.
Please note that If expenses are required to complete the task, you should be willing and able to do so before you accept the available task. Also, please obtain approval from your Clients before purchasing the items. Clients do not like surprise expenses during their tasking experience.
Available Tasks can be found in your mobile app under the Available Tasks tab.
If you want to be notified when a new Available Task is posted, you can receive push notifications for Available Tasks. First, your location services must be enabled on your mobile device in your phone settings. Next, in your Get Invitations tab, your Available to Respond toggle must be switched on.
When you receive a push notification for an Available Task, you must take action on that notification before you can receive another one. If you don't wish to receive notifications for Available Tasks, simply leave the most recent one alone.
What is Real Time Percentage and how does it work?
Taskers are expected to schedule the available task's appointment at or before the time indicated by the client. Please do not pick up the available task if you cannot fulfill the indicated time. We understand that sometimes a client will want to move the task to a later time, and that's OK. That's why the expectation for Real Time Percentage is 85%, not 100%.
