On May 25, 2018, the GDPR will go into effect in the European Union (EU). The GDPR is designed to harmonize data privacy laws across Europe, to protect EU citizens’ online data privacy, and to reshape the way organizations who do business in the EU approach data privacy.
The GDPR applies to organizations located within the EU, as well as organizations located outside of the EU who offer online goods or services to EU natural persons or ‘data subjects.’
We are actively working to address GDPR compliance for all our EU resident users. in particular, TaskRabbit is:
- Mapping our systems to document the use of personal data.
- Reviewing and revising our vendor agreements as necessary to implement GDPR processor requirements.
- Making technical changes to our platform that will enable us to support GDPR requirements and enhanced data subject rights.
Any information related to a data subject that can be used to directly or indirectly identify the person counts as personal data under the GDPR. This can include, for example: names, photos, email addresses, bank details, and posts in chat threads.
