Clients at IKEA stores, IKEA website, and taskrabbit.com/ikea will be offered a flat-rate pricing model for assembly tasks to which you’ll be auto-invited to, this is something we anticipate will result in steadier work volume for you.
What this opportunity means:
- Straightforward flat-rate pricing: Clients will be able to book tasks with flat-rate pricing in IKEA stores, the IKEA website, and on taskrabbit.com/ikea. Flat rates are based on each item and complexity of assembly, and you’ll be paid for every item you assemble. Check out some examples of flat rates here!
- Your stellar reputation continues: Your past ratings, reviews, and task history will remain on your profile as always, influencing how you’re matched with clients.
- Effortless task invitations: You’ll receive task invitations based on your task history and availability.
- Increased predictability: Clients can still show their appreciation by tipping you, but any additional expenses incurred (such as hardware, parking fees, and tolls) will not be permitted. Learn more here.
- Smooth transition for existing tasks: Any IKEA Assembly tasks scheduled before March 20, 2024 will be invoiced at your set rate as long as they’re not canceled and rebooked.
You will need to opt in to the new IKEA Assembly pricing model in order to take advantage of this opportunity. If you don’t see this prompt in the app, make sure you have the latest version from the Apple App or Google Play stores.
Why this is a great chance to grow your business:
- We've successfully implemented this same model in Canada and Europe and have seen a substantial increase in client demand and fewer cancellations, and we’re excited to bring it to the US so we can continue improving the Taskrabbit experience for everyone.
- All IKEA items to be assembled as part of the task will be listed in the task description so you’ll know exactly how much you’re earning in advance.
FAQs
If everyone has the same price, how will I show up in Client recommendations? How does Taskrabbit determine which Tasker gets auto-invited? |
Clients will no longer see or choose a Tasker as part of the booking process. Instead, Taskrabbit will be optimizing invitations to Taskers, which should result in a steadier job volume for you. Some tasks may fail auto-invitation due to Tasker location and availability and will be manually triaged. |
Will I still be able to see my job counts and reviews? | Yes, they will be transferred over. |
What happens to my prior IKEA Furniture Assembly job details? | Your past ratings and job history will remain on your profile and in the app. That history will continue being factored into how you’re matched to Client tasks. (i.e. They will be transferred over) |
How are the flat-rates determined? | Flat-rates are determined by the item and complexity of the assembly. You no longer invoice by hours. |
Is pricing changing for other categories? | No other pricing changes are happening as part of this. However, we’re continually exploring and experimenting with ways to improve our marketplace for both Clients and Taskers. |
Why can't I add additional services to the IKEA Assembly task? | The ability to add-on additional General Marketplace tasks will not be available in the new IKEA Assembly task category. Taskers can share their direct hire link with Clients for General Marketplace tasks. |
Does this mean I can’t expense parking or equipment anymore? | While Clients can still tip you, expenses are not permitted for IKEA Assembly tasks. Expenses incurred (such as hardware, parking fees, and tolls) may qualify as business expenses when you file your taxes. Learn more. |
